XKCD #1608 Mini-GameThis game is a neat TimeWaster (Pun intended), and as such worthwhile, but if it would end there it would not be a game made by Randall Munroe. The fun begins as soon as you try to break out of the game world. Xkcd #1608 – The whole mapThis map is loaded from my server, so it does not put pressure on xkcd’s servers. In the map you can see truly empty spaces by the broken link icons, so no, in these areas is nothing small hidden. You can even cheat by opening the inspector of your browser and using these commands in the console (Thanks to from the ):window.noclip = 1; // walk through everythingwindow.mewtwo = 1; // disable gravitywindow.i.am.gandalf = 1; // jump higher, travel faster and get a hatIt was quite an endeavor to compile this map without crashing the browser, therefore it was fun! ^^, Post navigation.
A few Lemonheads right before the race? Hits the spot. Pre-race bath ritual–with a couple extra friends. When I raced in college, I would layout my uniform the night before, visualize the race, stay off my feet, and prepare a nicely balanced meal. Now, I hope I can find a pair of matching socks, wake up at 3am for toddler nightmares (or Andy does;-), and I tiptoe out of the house race morning so as not to wake the sleeping babies. As if running itself isn’t challenging enough, throw young family in the mix and it’s like throwing hurdles throughout a 10k course. New mamas, ya feel me?!Wharf to Wharf is a special race, unlike any other. It’s where I see my friends from childhood, high school coaches, first boyfriends, and many happy memories.
Everyone is throwing around the hugs, giddy with nervousness and excitement, and genuinely excited to see each other. It’s like the best wedding reception ever, but people are gathered around a race course rather than a bar. Running past my kids: priceless.Unlike most races where in the back of my head I’d like to run a personal best, this time I had modest goals for myself: aim to prove I’m on track to run a sub-3 hour marathon.
Seeing as I’ve mostly just been building volume, did my first track workout one month ago, and most my hard effort runs have been 6:30-645, I decided I’d be pleased if I ran under 37 minutes—showing that my fitness and training was on track.Around mile three, I was tired and seriously contemplated stopping for good at the beach, but then I realized my lake vacation I had planned for right after wouldn’t be quite as rewarding if I didn’t finish the race with effort. So I repeated one of my favorite mantras, “run the mile you’re in” and just turned on my tunnel vision, tried to relax my shoulders, and moved forward. I eventually reached mile 5, and I knew I could pick it up a bit, so I did. At the top of the homestretch, I glimpsed my family and kids from the corner of my eye, and gave one last umph before hearing my name as I crossed the finish line in an encouraging 36:30.
Not my best time, but right where I needed and wanted to be on that day.I saw some favorite people, and walked back to my husband and kids and was greeted with flowers, champagne, and one kid yelling, “Mama, I have to go poopoo!!” Back to reality. This race was extra poignant to me, even though last year was my first Wharf to Wharf in 9 years, and I was still nursing a child. This past year has been incredibly full: beautiful but extremely challenging for my family. Beyond raising two little kids and working our respective careers, Andy (my husband) and I have endured some very stressful circumstances on both sides of our family. And for that reason, we’ve had to tap into a lot of resilience and cling to each other for strength.
Many times I’ve thought to myself, “so many things are hard right now, why am I doing one more hard thing (running) that I don’t have to?!” But when it came down to it, running is what got me through it, continues to get me through it, and it’s my ultimate expression of gratitude, strength, and willpower. So 2015 Wharf to Wharf wasn’t my fastest race but it may have been my most courageous race. It’s a reminder of our incredible ability to bounce back and battle. Of our ability to take imperfect training or exhaustion and tap into our determination. And for the first time ever, I was highly attuned to whatever story brought the 16,000 other runners there on that beautiful, epic Sunday morning. Categories Post navigation.

A big gripe vis a vis the game console tends to be the lower number of games for sale as well as the growing retail prices for the games.
